The belief
Cybersecurity is a team sport. The hard problems don't get solved by one vendor, one tool, or one expert on a stage. They get solved by defenders sharing what actually worked, what broke, and what they'd do differently.
AI is moving faster than any of us can keep up with alone. Nobody has the next four months figured out: not the vendors, not the analysts, not us. So instead of waiting for certainty that isn't coming, we learn out loud, together.
What we stand for
- About the community, not the host. The point is to curate, connect, and amplify. The people doing the work are the heroes here.
- Concepts over products. Ideas you can take and make your own. Products are welcome guests, never the point.
- Honest about the messy reality. We celebrate what broke and what we learned, not just the wins. No hype, no false certainty.
- Generous by default. We give away the good stuff. No gatekeeping; newcomers and veterans are equally welcome.
What you'll find here
Field notes: build logs from the trenches, written down honestly, including the parts that fell over. A newsletter every two weeks that pulls the signal out of the noise. Open tools you can run: small, benchmarked things built and improved in the open. And a podcast of real conversations with practitioners, coming later this year.
Who's behind this
AI for Defenders is started and written by Pouyan Khabazi, a security practitioner who spends his days defending real environments and the rest of his time figuring out where AI actually helps and where it quietly fails. This is built in the open: the field notes here are his own build logs, including the tooling he writes to make AI useful for detection work.
